Alcohol consumption is a common under-reported health problem in every society. Due to the stigma of chronic abuse, people addicted to alcohol prefers to deny the problem even when they recognise they need help. The latest guidance from Europe strongly advised men and women to drink not more that 14 units of alcohol in a week, a unit of alcohol is a shot of gin, or a can of beer of about 350mls. The way to estimate alcohol consumption is by multiplying the strength (in percent) by the amount (in millilitres) and dividing by 1000. Alcohol has been linked to many health problems ranging from physical like pancreatitis, cancers stomach ulcers, high BP, diabetes to mental illnesses like depression, physical and verbal abuse at home, brain atrophy, accidents and loss of self-confidence.
